Kastara.ID, Jakarta – Badan Antariksa Amerika (NASA) telah menyelesaikan proyek roket Space Launch System (SLS), yang akan digunakan untuk misi manusia ke Bulan pada 2024.<\/p>\n

SLS merupakan roket tertinggi yang dibangun oleh NASA dan Boeing. Roket ini memiliki tinggi 212 kaki atau sekitar 65 meter setara dengan gedung 20 lantai. Berdasarkan laporan audit, misi Artemis 1 diperkirakan akan mulai diluncurkan pada 2020. Pada tes peluncuran pertama akan dilakukan tanpa awak.<\/p>\n

Administrator NASA Jim Bridenstine masih enggan buka-bukaan soal kapan uji coba roket SLS akan dilakukan dan bungkam soal biaya yang digelontorkan NASA dan Boeing untuk membuat roket itu.<\/p>\n

Rencananya NASA akan mendarat di kutub selatan Bulan untuk mengeksplorasi es di permukaan bulan yang ditemukan pada 2009. Kedua hal ini dibutuhkan untuk mendukung kehidupan di Bulan. Selain itu, air juga akan digunakan sebagai bahan bakar roket, setelah memisahkan oksigen dan hidrogen.<\/p>\n

Untuk diketahui, biaya pembuatan roket ini telah menjadi pembicaraan. Diperkirakan NASA telah menghabiskan US$ 34 miliar (Rp 475,8 triliun; kurs 1US$=Rp 13.995,10) untuk membangun SLS, Orion, dan program Sistem Eksplorasi Daratan. Sepanjang 2019, total ketiga program ini diperkirakan akan meningkat jadi US$ 50 miliar (sekitar Rp 699,7 triliun) pada 2024.<\/p>\n

NASA diketahui telah bekerja sama dengan anak perusahaan United Technologies Corp, yakni Collins Aerospace Systems bersama ILC Dover mengungkap baju prototipe astronaut Amerika yang dirancang untuk misi NASA ke Bulan dan Mars.<\/p>\n

Baju luar angkasa terbaru ini merupakan bagian dari sistem Space Suit Next Generation. Baju ini dirancang menggunakan teknologi penghilangan karbon dioksida yang terus diperbarui.<\/p>\n
